Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Reading without an account collects very little. With an account we also keep what you give us and what you do on the site:

• Account details: username, email address and a password (stored only as a one-way hash, never in plain text). Optional profile fields you add: display name, bio, picture, banner and social links.
• Activity: bookmarks, reading history and progress, comments, reviews, thanks and follows.
• Purchases: coin packages you buy, the amount, currency, payment method and status, and the chapters or memberships you unlock. We do not receive or store your card number or PayPal password.
• Technical data: IP address and browser details in server logs and rate-limit checks, and an approximate country used for anonymous visit statistics.
• Messages you send us through the Report Issue form, including any contact detail you choose to include.

2. How we use it

• To run your account, keep you signed in and remember your place in a series.
• To process payments, credit coins and prevent duplicate or fraudulent purchases.
• To moderate comments and protect the site against abuse and attacks.
• To understand overall traffic and fix problems, using aggregated statistics.
• To send account emails such as password resets and membership expiry reminders. We do not send marketing email unless you opt in.

3. Cookies and local storage

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, a small cookie that records your cookie-notice choice, and your browser's local storage for reader preferences, reading history and wallet history shown on your device.

If the site owner turns them on, advertising and analytics services (for example Google AdSense and Google Analytics) may set their own cookies. Members with an active ad-free membership are not shown ads.

4. Who we share data with

We never sell your personal data. We share it only with the services needed to run the site:

• Payment providers (PayPal, or the blockchain network for crypto payments) to complete a purchase.
• Cloudflare, for content delivery, security and bot protection (including Turnstile).
• An image delivery service used to resize and speed up cover and page images.
• Advertising and analytics providers, only if enabled on this site.
• Authorities, when the law requires it.

5. Public profiles

Profiles are private by default. If you make yours public, your display name, picture, level, bio and the sections you choose to show (bookmarks, history, comments) can be seen by anyone. You can change this at any time in your profile settings.

6. How long we keep data

Account data is kept while your account exists. Raw page-visit records are kept for about 90 days and then reduced to totals. Expired sessions and password-reset tokens are removed automatically. Payment records are kept as long as needed for accounting and dispute handling.

7. Your choices and rights

You can edit your profile, change your password, make your profile private and stop notifications from your settings. To access, correct or delete your account and data, contact the Report Issue form on our home page. We will respond within a reasonable time.

8. Security

Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted, and access to administration is restricted. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

9. Children

Renascans is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
